Compliance

In order to be able to work in the UK as under any one of these professions there are a few processes that must be completed, whether you qualified here or abroad. The earlier you can sort your compliance before you wish to start work, the better. We do recommend allowing 2-3 months, as your CRB will take up to 8 weeks to be returned to you. You may already have some, if not all, of this completed, in which case we will only need copies of the documentation you have obtained. Do take your time to look through the requirements as they are crucial to being legal to work here in the UK. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any queries by either using the enquiries form on this page or calling us on 01962 600 134.

  1. If you are coming from overseas you will need to have Visa to work in the UK. Our Visa page covers exactly what you will need to know, as well as our FAQ section.
  2. You must be registered with the Health Professionals Council (HPC). They are a regulatory body who keep a register of health professionals, whose titles are protected by law. E.g. this means you may only work under the title of Occupational Therapist if you are registered and meet their standards for training, professional skills, behaviour and health. This is true for all Allied Health Professions. You can register online (link below). We will endeavour to guide you through this process.
Please note: UK, South African, Australian and New Zealand qualified candidates should not come across any difficulties in being accepted as the qualifications are recognised by HPC.
  3. You will need to have a Criminal Bureau Record (CRB) certificate. This should, after your visa, be done first because it can take up to 2 months to be returned from the CRB office. You will need to have a certificate registered to Holt Health Professionals in order to work through us, regardless of whether you have one with another agency. Please feel free to contact us regarding the CRB as we have direct links with the CRB office and this will make the process easier for you. This will be paid for by us, once you have been working for 3 months.
  4. You will need to have completed your Mandatory Training Courses. There are specific courses to complete online as well as Manual Handling and Basic Life Support in classes. We recommend using www.osmosistraining.co.uk. You can create an account to do this and you will need to complete Group A (with E-CPD) for the online training. You can then book your courses to complete in London. These must be updated annually. If you are coming from abroad, we recommend you complete the online training before you arrive, and have your Manual Handling and Basic Life Support classes booked in advance. This will help you to be legal to work from the moment you arrive.
  5. You will need to have completed all the following for Occupational Health Clearance:
    1. Health Questionnaire (we will send this to you, this document must be signed by hand)
    2. Proof of your immunity to Hepatitis B (a serology report reading over 100iu/ml within the past 5 years)
    3. Proof of your immunity to TB (either a positive mantoux test reading between 6mm and 15mm, proof of a BCG vaccination or BCG vaccination scar)
    4. Proof of your immunity to Measles, Mumps and Rubella (either a positive serology report for each within the past 5 years or proof of 2 MMR vaccinations)
    5. Proof of your immunity to Varicella/Chickenpox (either a signed declaration that you have had chickenpox or shingles (included in the health questionnaire)
    6. HIV/Hep C form

NOTE: All serology reports must be stamped with a hospital/lab stamp or printed on headed paper to be verified. To prove vaccinations you can send your immunization card (include the front page with your name!) or by a printout or letter from your GP as long as it has either an address stamp or is printed on headed paper.
